"There are rumours & media reports, claiming that the Government will extend the #Lockdown21 when it expires. The Cabinet Secretary has denied these reports, and stated that they are baseless," the Press Information Bureau (PIB) of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting tweeted.

He attributed the minuscule numbers in India to strict adherence to social distancing and various pre-emptive steps undertaken by the centre and the state governments.

Agarwal reiterated that technically, COVID-19 in India is still in local transmission stage, there has been no community transmission so far. Government strongly believes that words like "Community Transmission" should not used loosely used, said Agarwal.
