Mumbai:
Vipin Anand has taken charge today as managing director of LIC of India after Sunita Sharma, managing directir retired on Mar 31.
Anand has served LIC for more than 35 years and prior to taking charge as MD he was In-charge of LIC’s Western Zone, headquartered at Mumbai and comprising of 23 (Twenty Three) Divisions covering the states of Maharashtra, Gujarat , Goa and Union Territories of Daman, Diu and Dadra & Nagar Haveli. Earlier, he has also headed LIC’s East Central Zone headquartered at Patna.
Earler,just before the schedules for the general election were announced in the first week of March, the government had appointed MR Kumar as the chairman of the corporation while appointing TC Suseel Kumar and Vipin Anand as the managing directors of the corporation.
MR Kumar and Vipin Anand belong to 1983 batch of LIC while Susheelkumar belong to 1984 batch.
The two other posts MDS will also fall vacant in couple of months as B Venugopal and Hemant Bhargava will be retiring in May 2019 and July 2019 respectively and the the Banks Board Bureau (BBB) is likely to conduct the interviews of senior officials of the corporation after the elections are over in May end. .
For the first time, the Banks Board Bureau (BBB), that selects MDS and CEOs of the PSU banking sector, had interviewed eight senior officials of the state-owned Life Insurance Corporation(LIC),in the rank of executive directors(ED), on Jan 4,to select the new chairman and two managing directors for the corporation
