Markel International, the specialist insurer, has today appointed Thomas(Tom) Baker as senior underwriter – head of renewable energy. Based in Singapore, Tom is Markel’s first ever Asia-based global head as well as their first renewable energy underwriter in the region.
Reporting to Rohan Davies, divisional managing director of energy,Tom leads an international team to develop Markel’s renewable energy portfolio.
Tom brings with him over 15 years of experience in the renewable energy sector and joined Markel from Aon Singapore where he was director of construction, power & iInfrastructure and was responsible for growing the renewable energy books in the region.
Prior to that,he held several positions at GCube, a renewable energy MGA, where he wrote onshore and offshore renewable energy globally.
