Former BoI MD Atanu K Das selected as next IIRM director

The post of the director at IIRM will fall vacant shortly as the incumbent Suresh Mathur, who is on deputation from the IRDAI, will be retiring soon

Hyderabad:

Atanu Kumar Das, former MD & CEO, Bank of India(BoI), 60, has been selected by the insurance regulator IRDAI as the next director of Hyderabad based Institute of Insurance and Risk Management (IIRM), a premier academic institute on Insurance and Risk Management .

Das, a career PSU banker, had retired from state owned BoI in January.He had started his career with then state owned Vijaya Bank.

The post of the director at IIRM will fall vacant shortly after the incumbent Suresh Mathur, who is on deputation from the IRDAI, will be retiring at the end of January 2024.

The IRDAI had formed panel under Rakesh Joshi, member, Finance and Investment(F&I) to select a full time director of IIRM.

The institute is jointly promoted by the insurance regulator IRDAI and Telangana government.

It is a section 8 company with no paid-up capital as of now. The state government has provided the land, and the IRDAI has provided the infrastructure.

IIRM offers a 2-year full-time Post-Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) Program and is recognised by AICTE.

It offers courses on financial services sector including Finance & Financial Services, Banking, Insurance, Risk Management, Actuarial Science, Marketing, Data Science & Analytics, and allied areas.

The Institute has been in existence for over a decade and is mandated to deliver excellence in education that meets the changing need of the rapidly-growing Industry and economy at large, with the sole aim of developing an employable workforce.

    Much is written about the IIRM’s 2yr Dip Course (PGDM) but delivery of employee knowhow is conspicuous by its absence . The absence of branding & Marketing of the institute in the uplifting the subject needs to be revamped.

    With Atanu babu there, things will turn for the better. He did well & would repeat excellence here too. As an ex-BoI’te & knowing his worth, intent, & abilities from close quarters, I can vouchsafe.
    Besides, we, ex-faculties, are there too, to cheer up & support as needed. Achha toh hona hi hey bhailog!! 🤟

      During Atanu tenure frauds increased and organisation suffered with huge haircuts. The CBI closed one of the fraud account M/s Bagla Overseas. How he was identified is a mystery.
      Wat message he will give to the students
