In a letter to Suchita Gupta, chairperson, GIPSA, on Tuesday, unions had pointed out,“Failure of the DFS and our managements to address the genuine demands of the workforce have created a lot of distrust which needs to be rebuilt. You must have noticed the anguish of the entire workforce throughout the country during strike in these companies on 15th July 2022. Our managements and the DFS need to introspect and address the issues urgently by extending Wage Revision at par with LIC.”
New Delhi:
Continuing its efforts to break the deadlock over wage negotiation, GIPSA, the official coordinating agency of four PSU general insurers and GIC Re, has invited the PSU general unions to the negotiating table on 4th August in New Delhi.
GIPSA is the official coordinating body for the four PSU general insurer, New India Assurance, Oriental Insurance Company, National Insurance Company and United India Insurance and GIC Re.
RR Singh, CEO ,GIPSA, on Friday, has written to the various unions, representing 44,000 workforce of PSU general insurance industry, to send their representatives to carry forward the discussion on wage-negotiation, where the unions are demanding a pay hike of 16 per cent since Aug 2017 to be on the par with Life Insurance Corporation(LIC).
Earlier, the unions had postponed their two-day country-wide strike from Jul 27 after GIPSA had informed them that the issues over wage –negotiation as demanded by the unions are being taken up “seriously”.
The unions had said they will meet on 5th August to review the situation and decide further course of action.
GIPSA had informed the unions “We have recently provided some additional data to DFS to analyse the demand of employees for wage revision. We also understand that above matter is active consideration of DFS and we hope to hear from them soon,’’ said GIPSA letter to the unions.
In a letter to Suchita Gupta, chairperson, GIPSA, on Tuesday, JFTU had pointed out,“Failure of the DFS and our managements to address the genuine demands of the workforce have created a lot of distrust which needs to be rebuilt. You must have noticed the anguish of the entire workforce throughout the country during strike in these companies on 15th July 2022. Our managements and the DFS need to introspect and address the issues urgently by extending Wage Revision at par with LIC.”
A month back, DFS for PSU general insurance industry had approved a wage revision of 7 per cent but without any past arrears or 5 per cent along with two per cent arrears with effect from August 2017 that have been rejected by the unions.
For banking industry, the DFS had approved a hike of 15 per cent with full arrears in 2020, while for LIC, in 2021, it had allowed a 16 per cent hike again with full arrears from 2017.
What did we wrong? While some uneducated ministers getting much more benefits, we educated officers and employees , who deal with public, are being harassed. This is wrong. We oppose Modi government decision. Pls settle our wage revision otherwise we insurance employees will not vote for BJP in future. BJP is totally against employees.we condemn BJP.
