NEW YORK:

American International Group, Inc. announced that Shane Fitzsimons will join the company as Global Head of Shared Services, effective July 1. The Global Head of Shared Services is a newly created role at AIG that establishes a single point of accountability for key operational and financial capabilities provided by businesses and functions across the organization. Fitzsimons will be responsible for developing and implementing a global strategy within AIG’s Shared Services designed to create a cost-effective, scalable infrastructure that leverages technology and innovation.

 

Fitzsimons will be based in New York and report to Peter Zaffino, AIG’s Global Chief Operating Officer and Chief Executive Officer, General Insurance.

 

“Under Shane’s leadership, AIG Shared Services will be modernized to accelerate our progress towards restoring AIG as the leading insurance company in the world,” said Mr. Zaffino. “Shane has extensive operational and financial expertise and a proven track record of aligning Shared Services capabilities within global organizations with long-term operational and financial objectives.”

 

Fitzsimons added: “Joining AIG during this transformative time presents an exciting opportunity. I look forward to working with the Shared Services teams across the company to bring a coordinated approach to the foundational services they provide. By creating a global Shared Services organization, we will be better able to deliver tools and resources necessary to position AIG for success.”

 

Fitzsimons joins AIG from TATA Group, where he led efforts to enable synergies across the Group’s diverse set of businesses. Fitzsimons joined TATA Group from GE, where he spent over 20 years in operational and financial roles across the United States, Asia and Europe. These roles included Global Head of Shared Services, Chief Financial Officer for all international operations and Head of Financial Planning and Analysis across the company.
