New Delhi:The government, on Friday, has appointed Girija Subramanian, CMD, New India Assurance and Dinesh Pant, managing director, Life Insurance Corporation, as IRDAI’s new members of Distribution and Actuary respectively on Friday.
Both of them have been given a five-year tenure at the IRDAI.
Besides, the tenure of the two existing members – Deepak Sood(Non-life) and Rajay Sinha(Finance and Investment)- have been extended by two more years from the date of their retirement till they reach 65.
Sood will get two more years from 27 Oct, 2026 while Sinha’s extension will start from Jan 24, 2027.
Subramanian will be retiring from NIA by July end. Pant would have retired from LIC on May 31, 2027,after turning 60.
The government has now implemented the new rule where a member of IRDAI can have a 5-year tenure at IRDAI as the recently passed Insurance Amendment Act allowed such a change. Earlier the members used to have three-year tenure or till they reach 62 which is now increased to five-year or till they reach 65.
