New Delhi:The government, on Friday, has appointed Girija Subramanian, CMD, New India Assurance and Dinesh Pant, managing director, Life Insurance Corporation, as IRDAI’s new members of Distribution and Actuary respectively on Friday.
Both of them have been given a five-year tenure at the IRDAI.
Besides, the tenure of the two existing members – Deepak Sood(Non-life) and Rajay Sinha(Finance and Investment)- have been extended by two more years from the date of their retirement till they reach 65.
Sood will get two more years from 27 Oct, 2026 while Sinha’s extension will start from Jan 24, 2027.
Subramanian will be retiring from NIA by July end. Pant would have retired from LIC on May 31, 2027,after turning 60.
The government has now implemented the new rule where a member of IRDAI can have a 5-year tenure at IRDAI as the recently passed Insurance Amendment Act allowed such a change. Earlier the members used to have three-year tenure or till they reach 62 which is now increased to five-year or till they reach 65.
If the incumbent had talent in respect work as well sense in dealing with office duties, giving extension is not an issue . It’s too. iportant, after extension period, the new person would be kept ready for taking over the similar responsibilty.
Heartiest 🎊 Congratulations 🙏Girija Subramanian madam.

Congratulations
Government should support increasing the market share of PSUs by creating new channels for retiring marketing officials from PSUs, like how they are giving extensions to talented administrators . Ultimately BUSINESS is the mantra for every PSUs.

In the name of talent/vast experience, officers are given extensions, included in organizations like IRDAI, but in last 5yrs, I didn’t find any response to my several mails, addressed to chairman office & others in IRDAI, related to issue that Insurance Cos don’t follow the guide lines framed by IRDAI.
I, as a victim, being an agent of TataAIG never got any response. So is the IRDAI functional?
Congratulations,
Expectations are too high in distribution space.Insurance sales and production takes place then and there,So adopting new generation technology through contact personal, innovating highly responsible, accountable, service providing distribution channel there by reducing expenses are key challenges ahead.
The expertise of the highly competent members will change the insurance distribution effectivly, efficiently, with minimum cost ,coupled with best after sales service.
My personal experience with Top Executives of Insurance and Banks reveals that they never worked in the Rural Assignments.
So that Public/Customer never getting any supporting System or Organization getting any Benefits for their Development.
Anyhow Executives are enjoying All Attractive Perks at the cost of Customer’s hard-earned Money.
I wish Smt.Girija Sunramanyam all the best, on her new assignment.
