Govt approves 15 % wage hike for 1 lakh LIC employees, effective from Aug 1,2017

The new wage hike that has 100 per cent neutralisation of dearness allowances will be notified by the government on Thursday.
After the hike, an entry level officer of LIC- Assistant Administartive officer-   will draw a basic salary of Rs  53,600 while a development officer will get Rs 35,650.

The senior most officer in LIC- zonal manager- will receive a salary of Rs 1,63.755.

In the western state of Gujurat, a Reuters witness saw a long queue of ambulances waiting outside Ahmedabad Civil Hospital on Wednesday, with some patients being treated there while they waited.A hospital source, who declined to be named as he is not authorised to speak publicly, said a lot of private hospitals were short of oxygen and were sending their patients to the public hospital.

Chhattisgarh state – one of several hinterland regions struggling with a surge in cases – set up a temporary 370-bed hospital in an indoor stadium.

Global warming making Indian monsoon seasons stronger, more chaotic: Study

”We have found robust evidence for an exponential dependence: For every degree Celsius of warming, monsoon rainfalls will likely increase by about 5 percent,” said study lead author Anja Katzenberger from the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK) in Germany.

”Hereby we were also able to confirm previous studies but find that global warming is increasing monsoon rainfall in India even more than previously thought. It is dominating monsoon dynamics in the 21st century,” Katzenberger said.

Govt not going for lockdowns in big way, says Sitharaman amid Covid-19 wave

 “Even with the second wave, we are very clear that we are not going in for lockdowns in a big way. We don’t want to totally arrest the economy. The local level isolation of patients, or households which have people in quarantines are the methods through which the crisis will be handled, the second wave will be handled. There shall not be lockdown,” she said.
