NEW DELHI:

A high intensity earthquake of magnitude 6.1 hit Delhi NCR and several other parts of north India on Friday night.

trong tremors were felt in parts of Northern India including the capital city of New Delhi and as far as Srinagar, Reuters witnesses said late on Friday.

The earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 km at 10.34 pm, it added.

However, there were no immediate reports of any loss of life or damage to property.

The epicentre of the earthquake was 21 km from Amritsar in Punjab, according to the National Center for Seismology.

"Earthquake of Magnitude:6.1, Occurred on 12-02-2021, 22:34:40 IST, Lat: 31.57 & Long: 75.09, Depth: 10 Km ,Location: 21km ESE of Amritsar, Punjab," NCS tweeted.According to the National Centre for Sesimology, the epicentre of the quake was Amritsar.
