New Delhi: State-owned Agriculture Insurance Company of India (AIC) has been conferred the 17th Impact Leadership Award 2026 in recognition of its outstanding contribution to strengthening agricultural resilience through innovative crop insurance solutions, effective risk management and its commitment to protecting farmers’ livelihoods and promoting sustainable agricultural development.
The award was presented to Dr Lavanya Mundayur, CMD,AIC, by Rajnath Singh, Union Defence Minister, at the Agriculture Leadership Conclave 2026, being held in New Delhi on July 8-9.
The award recognises AIC’s significant contribution to agricultural risk mitigation through innovative crop insurance products, financial protection for farmers and sustained efforts to strengthen resilience and sustainability in India’s agricultural sector.
The awards jury was chaired by P. Sathasivam, former Chief Justice of India and former Governor of Kerala. The National Awards Committee, which met in New Delhi on June 15, selected AIC for the honour.
Instituted in 2008, the Agriculture Leadership Awards recognise excellence and leadership by individuals and organisations that have made outstanding contributions to the development of Indian agriculture and rural prosperity.
The annual awards honour achievements across agriculture, horticulture, animal sciences, social and rural development that have positively impacted the lives of millions of farmers.
Previous recipients of the award include Eknath Shinde, deputy chief minister, Mharashtra, Nayab Singh Saini,Chief minister,Haryna, Akhilesh Yadav,former CM, Uttar Pradesh, Prem Kumar Dhumal,former Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Ratan Tata, late chairman of Tata Sons, M. S. Swaminathan, a world-renowned agricultural scientist famously known as the “Father of the Green Revolution in India, Verghese Kurien,the “Father of the White Revolution” in India, Balram Jakhar, former Union Agriculture Minister, and Suresh Prabhu, former union Power Mminister,along with international dignitaries including Kenneth Quinn, Islam Siddiqui and Stoelinga.
