Mumbai:Aditya Gupta, a former executive director of Life Insurance Corporation(LIC), has taken over as the new secretary general of the Life Insurance Council, the official representative body 27 domestic life insurers in the country.
The post fell vacant after SN Bhattacharya, retired from the post recently.

Actively participating in spreading insurance awareness in India, it develops and coordinates all discussions between the government, IRDAI and the public.
The council, functions through several sub-committees and includes all life insurance companies.
It is currently headed by R Doraiswamy, MD and CEO of Life Insurance Corporation.
The government in the recently enacted the Sabka Bima Sabki Raksha (Amendment of Insurance Laws) Act, 2025, have provision to strengthen the position of GI Council further by inducting two additional members from its side.
The life insurance industry has launched its massive Rs 450 crore nationwide awareness campaign aimed at promoting the industry in the country.
