The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Pramod Kumar Arora,54, secretary (International Operations), Life Insurance Corporation, Member (Actuary) in Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI).
Arora is a professionally qualified actuary and earlier had served as a appointed actuary of LIC, Before being posted as secretary in the LIC's department of international operationsin Nov 2019,he had a stint in the corporation's Bahrain office. .
The post of member IRDAI had fallen vacant after Pournima Gupte, completed her five year tenure in Januray
Six actuaries including Gupte were interviewed on Oct 9 by a high powered panel headed by the Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba.
Besides the chairman,insurance regulator has five full-time members on its board. Apart from member-distribution and actuary, other members include life, non-life and Finance and investment.
K Ganesh is the member for life, TL Alamelu is member-Non-Life and Pravin Kutumbe is member for finance and investment.
A few days back government had appointed SN Rajeswari, CMD, Oriental Insurance Company as the member distribution..
Subhash Chandra Khuntia, chiarman, IRDA will be completing his three-year tenure in May 2021.
