London: UK major Prudential plc (Prudential) announced the appointment of Naveen Tahilyani,MD and CEO, Tata Digital, as Regional CEO for India, Africa, the Philippines, Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar, with responsibility for Health.
Naveen will join the business and Group Executive Committee of Prudential on 29 July, reporting to its CEO Anil Wadhwani. He will be based in India.
Commenting on Naveen’s appointment, Prudential plc CEO Anil Wadhwani said: “Continuing to build our Health pillar, and driving growth across India, Africa, the Philippines, as well as Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar are strategic gamechangers for Prudential. I am confident Naveen is the right leader in the right location to deliver the impact we need.”
Earlier, Prudential plc had announced its plan to establish a joint venture with Vama Sundari Investments (Delhi) Private Limited (Vama), an HCL Group’s Promoter Company, for an Indian standalone health insurance company.
Subject to obtaining regulatory approvals, Prudential Group Holdings Limited, a UK subsidiary of Prudential plc, will hold a 70 per cent stake in the joint venture, while Vama will hold the remaining 30 per cent stake.
Naveen has earlier served as MD and CEO of Tata AIA for over seven years across two separate stints, with a period in between leading AIA’s Group partnership distribution business across Asia.
Tahilyani’s appointment follows Solmaz Altin’s decision to return to Europe, previously announced.
Prudential has also appointed Rajeev Mittal, as Chief Executive Officer for Prudential’s asset management business, Eastspring Investments.
Rajeev’s appointment follows the decision by Bill Maldonado to retire and return to the UK, where his family has been living for the past four years.
Rajeev’s appointment is effective 1 July. Based in Singapore, Rajeev will report to Anil and will join Group Executive Committee.
Bill will continue to be an advisor to the business until the end of September, ensuring continuity and a seamless transition and will also continue to serve as a Board member of ICICI Prudential Asset Management Company Limited.
