PSU general insurance industry unions call off their Thursday strike

In another important development, the association has said that the Department of Financial Services has confirmed that clause of performance linked wage negotiation that was added at the time of settlement of the last wage revision, has been deleted

New Delhi: Joint forum of Unions & Associations of Officers & Employees (JFTU) of PSU general insurance industry, with around 35,000 workforce, has withdrawn its call for a strike on Thursday in view of some positive discussion with the Department of Financial Services (DFS) over the matter of wage revision(WR) and other issues.

In a statement, the National Confederation of General Insurance Officer’s Association on Wednesday said though the DFS has not come with any specific offers and date for the conclusion of the ongoing wage revision exercises, they have assured that the demands of the unions will be addressed soon.

Further, the Central Labour Commissioner (CLC) after talking to joint secretary of DFS has assured that the wage negotiation at par with Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) and other demands would be settled by by 30th April.

In another important development the association has said that the DFS representative has confirmed that clause on performance linked WR, that was added while finalising the last WR .has been deleted by DFS.

DFS further confirmed that all queries of the Secretary, DFS stand clarified and now Secretary DFS has sought time from Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman for getting her formal approval, the statement said.
