In a bid to ensure seamless continuity of coverage of benefits to the account holders of various banks who are provided health insurance coverage through group insurance schemes, the insurance regualtor,IRDAI has now allowed portability of their coverage to another indemnity based group health insurance policy offered by a different insurer to the account holders of the same bank.
The portability will be offered subject to the option exercised by an individual member of the group policy.
Meanwhile, IRDA has said it has come to their notice that some unauthorized entities are professing to be selling health plans by offering discounts on medical treatments or diagnostic tests.
“It is hereby clarified that only the IRDAI registered insurance companies, or their authorized agents and intermediaries registered by IRDAI can sell insurance products. Individuals who avail such services from unauthorized persons or entities shall be doing so at their own risk,'' said IRDAI..
The list of insurance companies recognised by IRDAI may be seen at www.irdai.gov.in. In case of doubt, the customers may contact the insurance company to ascertain the genuineness of the insurance plan and of the selling person.
