Under the scheme, the woman agents will also get a stipend of Rs 7,000 per month for the first year, Rs 6,000 per month in the second year and Rs 5,000 per month in the third year. Bima Sakhis will also get the benefit of commission
Panipat: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday launched the ‘Bima Sakhi Yojana’ of LIC here under which 2 lakh woman insurance agents will be appointed over the next three years.
Modi mentioned that women will get an opportunity to earn by becoming BIMA SAKHI. He mentioned about the various government initiatives for women empowerment.
He also stated that by becoming LIC’s BIMA SAKHI, women will earn well and will provide additional income to the family. This will be a step towards Viksit Bharat as they will provide social security to families by spreading the message of Insurance for All, which in turn would help India stride towards becoming the 3rd largest ecomomy in the world.
He urged women to empower themselves by becoming BIMA SAKHI. PM Modi also handed over Certificates to a few Bima Sakhis on this occasion.
Union Minister, Finance & Corporate Affairs, Nirmala Sitharaman in her address mentioned about the various initiatives taken by the Government for Women empowerment like the Beti Bacho-Beti Padhao, Namo Drone Didi, Lakhpati Didi etc and mentioned that LIC’s Bima Sakhi, a Mahila Career Agent scheme will not only contribute to making women self reliant and financially independent but will also enable Sabki Suraksha, Sabka Vikas.
She mentioned that it is a landmark initiative by LIC aimed at empowering women by providing easy access to become financially independent and self reliant.
‘Bima Sakhi Yojana’, an initiative of state-owned LIC, is designed to empower women aged 18-70 years who are Class X pass.
They will receive specialised training and a stipend for the first three years to promote financial literacy and insurance awareness.
Under the scheme, the woman agents will also get a stipend of Rs 7,000 per month for the first year, Rs 6,000 per month in the second year and Rs 5,000 per month in the third year. Bima Sakhis will also get the benefit of commission.
The plan is to appoint 2 lakh Bima Sakhi over three years.
After training, they can serve as LIC agents and the graduate Bima Sakhis would have the opportunity to qualify for being considered for Development Officer roles in LIC.
