Aiming to provide rural women with job opportunities as insurance agents, a woman agent in LIC Bima Sakhi Yojana will earn Rs 7,000 per month in the first year, Rs 6,000 in the second year and Rs 5,000 by the third year. Additionally, an extra incentive of Rs 2,100 will be provided. Women can also earn commission-based rewards by meeting insurance targets
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday will inaugurate the Life Insurance Corporation of India’s Bima Sakhi Yojana, a women centric agency plan, in Panipat.
“The scheme is in line with PM’s vision of prosperous women for Viksit Bharat. It is expected that the function will be graced by Governor of Haryana Bandaru Dattatreya, Union Minister, Finance & Corporate Affairs Nirmala Sitharaman, Chief Minister of Haryana and select ministers from Central Government and State Government,” said a LIC press release on Saturday.
The scheme will first launch in Haryana before gradually rolling out across India.
The government is targeting to make 2 lakh women self-reliant in three years through this LIC agency scheme which expected to significantly impact women’s empowerment and employment opportunities across rural India.

Additionally, an extra incentive of Rs 2,100 will be provided. Women can also earn commission-based rewards by meeting insurance targets.
Initially, the program plans to recruit 35,000 women as insurance agents. In subsequent phases, it aims to expand and include an additional 50,000 women. Women aged between 18 and 50 years are eligible for registration under this scheme. A minimum qualification requirement is passing the 10th grade.
