New Delhi: The Department of Financial Services(DFS) has shortlisted five candidates for the selection of a CMD at Delhi based Agriculture Insurance Company(AIC).

The FSIB, the headhunting agency for the posts above executive directors in the PSU banks and insurance companies, will interviews five candidates for selecting a CMD of AIC  on Thursday.

The post has fallen vacant after Girija Subramanian was appointed as the CMD of New India Insurance(NIA) in June.

The general managers (GMs) who have been shortlisted on the basis of seniority are – V Balkrishna and Jayshree Bala from GIC Re,  Rekha  Solanki, GM and chief marketing officer, Oriental Insurance Company, Mathew George , Managing Director and CEO of Health Insurance TPA of India Ltd (HITPA), Lavanya  Mundayur, GM and chief underwriting officer, New India Insurance.

The DFS had earlier tweaked  one of  its important eligibility criteria, because of shortages of eligible officials, where a GM needs to have two years of experience, to be considered for a post of CMD in a PSU genera insurance company.

The industry is also waiting for the appointment of member, Non-Life, IRDAI for which earlier the Financial Sector Regulatory Appointment Search Committee (FSRASC), headed by cabinet secretary Rajiv Gaub had already completed the interview.

The candidates who are in the race for the post – Rejeshwri Singh, CMD, National Insurance Company, Randip Singh Jagpal, executive director, IRDAI, CS Radhika, general manger, United India Insurance UII and three other candidates from the private sector insurance industry-Deepak Sood, a consultant at Prudent Coporate Advisory Services, Balasubramanian Pulicat, general manger of Saudi Arabian Insurance Company and Sanjay Jha, general Manager, Oman Insurance.

Meanwhile , the FSIB will also conduct interviews for filling up more than half a dozen of of executive director posts, which are falling vacant in the PSU general insurance companies in couple of months.
