New Delhi:
India’s passenger vehicle wholesales experienced a 4% year-on-year growth in May 2023, totaling 3,47,492 units, the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) reported on Tuesday.
The overall passenger vehicle dispatches from manufacturers to dealers were recorded at 3,34,537 units for the month.
Commenting on the figures, SIAM President Vinod Aggarwal explained that the modest growth was primarily due to a high base effect from the previous year.
Moreover, the two-wheeler segment saw a notable 10% rise in sales, reaching 16,20,084 units in May, compared to 14,71,550 units in the same period last year.
Three-wheeler dispatches also surged 15%, amounting to 55,763 units, up from 48,610 units in May 2022.
