Reinsurance Group of America, RGA, the largest a specialised global life and health reinsurer, has appointed Sunil Sharma as its country CEO for India, subject to regulatory approval.
Sharma, a qualified actuary, has assumed charge at RGA on 22nd Jan.
He succeeds Jyoti Punja at RGA’s India operations, which had mobilised a premium of around Rs 1700 crore in FY 22-23.
RGA also is the largest life reinsurer in India.
Before joining RGA, Sharma served in high level roles at Kotak Life for over a decade, most recently as the president, chief actuary, and chief risk officer.
Sharma holds more than 30 years of experience in insurance and reinsurance markets globally and held leadership positions in various markets, including India, the US, the UK, and Southeast Asia. He has worked in companies like Swiss Re, GE Insurance and ICICI Prudential Life Insurance.

RGA, one of the foreign reinsurers, which had set up its Indian operations as a foreign reinsurance branch(FRB), along with ten such multinational reinsurers, majorly focussing on general insurance business, since 2017.
