Insurance regulator IRDAI has promoted J Meena Kumari, 48, a qualified actuary, chief general manager(CGM), as one of its executive directors (EDs) and effected a minor reshuffle among some of its key CGMs two days back.

Meena Kumari, who was selected after conducting interviews of some of IRDAI’s CGMs , has superseded a few of her seniors to become an executive director.

Anita J, again a qualified actuary, who has been promoted as CGM, has replaced SN Jayasimhan and will be in charge of Department of Intermediaries.

Jayasimhan has been shifted to IRDAI’s Department of Policy Research.

Ramana Rao A, CGM, has succeeded DVS Ramesh, CGM, in Non-life department.

Ramesh has been moved to Department of Financial Inclusion.

Both Jayasimhan and Ramesh had joined departments, from where they have been transferred now, recently after being promoted as CGMs.

The post of Member,(Life), continues to be with PK Arora, member(Actuary) as an additional charge since K Ganesh retired in June 2022.

Earlier, Rakesh Joshi, member, Finance and Accounts, also has been given the charge of Health Department, which is normally a part of IRDAI’s Non-life department.

It is also reliably learn that the IRDAI will be hiring a few senior professionals from the open market for assignments like Human Relations(HR) and Public Relations(PR).

With Meena Kumari, who is one of the youngest EDs with the insurance regulator, the IRDAI will have four EDs including Mamta Suri, Randeep Singh Jagpal and Suresh Mathur who is  now on a deputation as a director to Hyderabad based Indian Institute of Risk Management(IIRM).

Both Suri and Mathur will be retiring during the calendar year 2023.
