The survey revealed that 42 per cent of millennials are open to spending Rs 2-5 lakhs for their holidays while 33 per cent would spend between Rs 5-10 lakhs. Around 31 per cent of millennials would like to book luxury properties while 27 per cent would go for budget properties followed by 26 per cent for Boutique properties, it added.

As the country recovered from COVID-19-related disruptions, a report has revealed that a majority of millennial travellers are planning to take a family holiday this calendar year.

Travel is back and 82 per cent of Indian millennial travellers, which form the largest chunk of the travelling population, are planning to take a family holiday this year, according to the report by BOTT (Business of Travel Trade) Travel Sentiment Tracker. The report is based on an online survey with over 8,500 millennial travellers across the country from August 1 to September 15.

Millennials, also known as Generation Y, are generally considered to be those born during the 1980s to mid-1990s.

It was also revealed that after the pandemic, millennials are quite enthusiastic about their vacation plans as 56 per cent of them are planning to go for an international holiday while 44 per cent are looking forward to taking a domestic holiday.

”The fact that more than 82 per cent of the Millennials in India are keen to undertake a holiday in the coming holiday season is extremely encouraging news for the travel and tourism industry.

”The findings are motivating and will certainly generate more confidence in an industry which got severely impacted by the pandemic,” TBO Group (Travel boutique online) co-founder Ankush Nijhawan said.

However, inbound and outbound are two verticals of travel that go hand in hand and the growth of one pushes the growth of the other sector too, he said.

”The findings reflect the pent-up travel demand among the Millennials. It is heartening to see that travellers are back and are open to new destinations, and determined to make the most of the opportunities that have opened up…,” Jyoti Mayal, President, Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI) and Vice Chairperson, FAITH (federation of associations in India tourism and hospitality), said.
