Munich: 

Munich Re has announced two senior appointments in its Life and Health business in the region. Aravind Srinivas will lead the Group’s Southeast Asia business and Tobias Frenz takes on responsibility for a newly formed business capability called Digital Solutions.

These appointments are effective from 1 January 2021.

Aravind Srinivas is named Managing Director Life and Health, Southeast Asia. He is based in Singapore and reports to David Hughes, CEO, Munich Re Life and Health, Asia (ex-Greater China). He succeeds Tobias Frenz, who takes on the role of Head of Digital Solutions, Life and Health, Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa.

As Head of Digital Solutions, Tobias is responsible for further developing the Group’s wide range of digital solutions which span from (re)insurance specific AI and Predictive Analytics solutions through to augmented automated underwriting and claims solutions.

In this newly created role, Tobias reports to Daniel Cossette, CEO, Munich Re Life and Health, Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa.

Prior to this, Aravind was the Chief Commercial Officer for Munich Re’s Life, Health and High Net Worth business in the region, with responsibility for technical pricing, product development, business development and client management in various markets across Asia.

Before moving to the Singapore office in 2015, he was Head of Client Pricing in Munich Re Australasia and had held various roles covering pricing, product development and client management. He has more than 15 years’ experience in the life insurance industry and worked in consulting and direct insurance in Australia before joining the Munich Re Group. He is a fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia.

Tobias Frenz has been with Munich Re for 19 years, having worked in Germany, the UAE, Malaysia and Singapore in various client management and senior leadership roles, including heading its Retakaful business. He holds a Master’s degree in Mathematics and Economics from the University of Dortmund, a Certificate in Islamic Finance from CIMA and is a Fellow of the Actuarial Society of Germany.
