The Joint Forum of unions and associations of employees and officers in public sector general insurance companies have called the one-day strike for their demands including wage revision pending from August 1, 2017, increase in NPS contribution by 14 percent, improvement of family pension at 30 percent without any capping and coverage of all employees under the 1995 pension scheme

Employees unions in the public sector general insurance companies have decided to go for a one-day strike on July 11 demanding wage revision on par with Life Insurance Corporation (LIC).

The Joint Forum of unions and associations of employees and officers in public sector general insurance companies(JFTU) has called a one-day strike for pushing their demands including wage revision pending from August 1, 2017, increase in NPS contribution by 14 percent, improvement of family pension at 30 percent without any capping and coverage of all employees under the 1995 pension scheme.

GIPSA, the coordinating body of four public sector insurance companies and GIC Re, had called a meeting of check off qualified unions and associations on June 22 for discussion but nothing came out of the meeting.

Union leaders and other members resorted to a dharna before the offices of CMDs of PSU insurance companies and regional offices on July 6, the forum said.
