The post had fallen vacant following the retirement of Pravin Kutumbe after completing his three-year tenure in March 2021

The government has appointed Rakesh Joshi, former executive vice president and group head (Debt Capital markets), State Bank of India Capital Markets(SBI Caps), as the new member,(Finance and Investment) IRDA.
He had retired from SBI Caps in December, 2021.
The appointments committee of the cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Joshi as member, IRDAI, for three years, said a DoPT order issued on Wednesday.
The post had fallen vacant after Pravin Kutumbe, a former executive director, Life Insurance Corporation, had retired after completing his three-year tenure as a member(F&A), IRDAI, in March 2021.
Subsequently , the ministry of finance had advertised for the post and Financial Sector Regulatory Appointment Search Committee, headed by cabinet secretary Rajiv Gauba had interviewed a few candidates for the post.
IRDAI has provisions for five full time members, managing portfolios like, Life, Non-Life, Actuarial and Distribution and four part-time members.
TR Alamelu, member(non-life) will be retiring in May and the government has already advertised for the post.
