Poorer countries to get 120 million $5 coronavirus tests, WHO says
WHO Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said the manufacturers Abbott and SD Biosensor had agreed with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to “make 120 million of these new, highly portable and easy-to-use rapid COVID-19 diagnostic tests available over a period of six months”.
“This will enable the expansion of testing, particularly in hard-to-reach areas that do not have laboratory facilities or enough trained health workers to carry out tests,” Tedros said.

Govt looks to implement all 4 labour codes in one go by December: Gangwar
The draft rules of the three codes on industrial relations, social security and occupational safety, health and working conditions are likely to be circulated by the first week of November for feedback.
The labour ministry is expected to finalise and implement rules of the three codes along with already firmed wage code rules by December this year. Thereafter, these four codes would become law of land to complete game-changing labour reforms in the country.
Talking to PTI, Labour Minister Gangwar said, “Government is doing all efforts to complete the labour reforms by implementing the all four labour codes by December this year…”

India caps prices of medical oxygen amid rising COVID-19 cases
“Due to the absence of a price cap on liquid medical oxygen, manufacturers have hiked prices to fillers,” the government said in a statement, referring to off-takers such as hospitals and clinics which use the oxygen.
To ensure that the oxygen is available at reasonable rates, the government has capped manufacturers’ prices at 15.22 rupees per cubic metre (CUM), the statement said.

No conclusive evidence of foodborne transmission of COVID-19: FSSAI
“The committee, in its report, opined that as of now, there is no conclusive evidence for foodborne transmission of coronavirus and concluded that food imported into India from coronavirus-affected countries is safe for human consumption,” Minister of State for Health Ashwini Choubey.
