Asia Pacific health care benefit cost expected to jump by 8.5% in 2021, Willis Towers Watson survey
The 2021 Global Medical Trends Survey, the largest of its kind, found that medical insurers in APAC project health care benefit costs will take a sudden drop in 2020 before rebounding to 8.5% in 2021, up from 6.2% this year and 7.5% in 2019.
Markets including China (9.3%), India (10%), Indonesia (12%), Malaysia (12.5%), New Zealand (20%), Philippines (8.8%), Singapore (8.2%), Thailand (8%) and Vietnam (10.2%) will see an increase in excess of 8% next year.
According to the study, cancer (79%), cardiovascular diseases (76%), and conditions affecting musculoskeletal and connective tissue (42%) are the top three conditions currently affecting medical costs in APAC, with cancer and cardiovascular diseases expected to remain so in the near future.

Mumbai hit by massive power outage
The failure was caused by “technical problems” during maintenance work, the energy minister of Maharashtra said in a video message. Power has now been restored to many areas of the city, officials and witnesses said.

FM announces economic stimulus to boost demand by $10 billion
Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman, announced a one-time Rs 10,000 interest-free festival advance to all its officers and employees as part of plans to increase consumer spending to spur demand in the economy.
She said the government will also shore up investment by spending extra Rs 260 billion ($3.41 billion) on roads, ports and defence projects, and offering Rs 120 billion in interest-free 50-year loans to state governments for spending on infrastructure before March 31,2021.
“All these measures are likely to create an additional demand of Rs 730 billion ($9.96 billion),” Sitharaman said, adding the proposals would stimulate demand in a “fiscally prudent way.”

COVID-19 active caseload below 9 lakh for fourth consecutive day
“India continues to report a trend of steadily decreasing active cases.for the fourth day after the active cases dropped below the 9 lakh mark after a month, the decline continues,” the ministry said.
There are 8,61,853 active cases of coronavirus infection in the country, according to the data updated at 8 am.
The national recovery rate has progressed to 86.36 per cent, the ministry said.

Maha CM orders probe into power outage in Mumbai
