India’s medical infra well prepared to deal with third COVID wave: FM

A Rs 50,000 crore credit guarantee scheme for setting up of medical or health infrastructure by private hospitals in cities other than 8 metropolitan cities was also announced as part of measures for reviving the economy battered by a severe second wave of COVID-19.

The minister further said 45-50 lakh people per day are getting vaccinated and a total of 33 crore people have received vaccination.

SC directs NDMA to issue norms for financial help to kin of Covid victims

A special bench of Justices Ashok Bhushan and M R Shah said that the court cannot direct the Centre to fix a particular amount of financial help but the government can fix the minimum standard of amount to be paid as ex-gratia to family members of those who lost their lives due to COVID-19 while keeping various aspects in mind.

The top court asked the Centre to consider formulating an insurance scheme for cremation workers as proposed by the Finance Commission.
It also directs the authorities to issue appropriate guidelines for simplification of process of issuance of death certificates for Covid fatalities.

Health sector will get Rs 50,000 crore aimed at upscaling medical infra, specially targeting underserved areas.Under the ECLGS 4.0, 100 per cent guarantee cover was given to loans up to Rs 2 crore to hospitals, nursing homes, clinics, medical colleges for setting up on-site oxygen generation plants.

After Air India, Cairn to target more Indian state-owned firms for recovery

A lawyer representing the company said Cairn will bring lawsuits in several countries to make state-owned firms liable to pay the USD 1.2 billion plus interest and penalties that are due from the Indian government.

Last month, Cairn brought a lawsuit in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York pleading that Air India is controlled by the Indian government so much that they are ‘alter egos’ and the airline should be held liable for the arbitration award.
