Of the 1,129 deaths reported in the last 24 hours, 18 are from Tamil Nadu, 280 from Maharashtra, 65 from Andhra Pradesh,?55 from Karnataka, 39 from West Bengal, 34 from Uttar Pradesh, 29 from Delhi, 28 from Gujarat, 14 from Madhya Pradesh and 10 from Jammu and Kashmir

India Covid recovery rate at 63% after record 28,472 recuperations in a day

States and Union Territories with recovery rate higher than the national average include Delhi (84.83 pc), Telangana (78.37 pc), Rajasthan (72.50 pc), Gujarat (72.30 pc), Chhattisgarh (71.81 pc), Assam (71.05 pc), Odisha (70.96 pc), Tamil Nadu (70.12 pc), Madhya Pradesh (67.47 pc) and Bihar (63.95).

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), a total of 1,47,24,546 samples have been tested up to July 21 with 3,43,243 samples being tested on Tuesday.

RBI panel pitches for incentives to promote usage of QR code transactions

Earlier, a committee on deepening digital payments, constituted by RBI under the chairmanship of Nandan Nilekani, non-executive chairman, Infosys, had said “Market forces must result in transaction pricing that creates a viable ecosystem. Regulator should adjust the interchange rate and let the market compete on MDR (Merchant Discount Rate) ultimately growing acceptance ecosystem rather than inhibiting it.”

“India invites you to invest in finance and insurance. India has raised FDI cap for investment in insurance to 49%. Now 100% FDI is permitted for investment in insurance intermediaries,” he said.

He said that reforms in many sectors like agriculture, medicine, energy, space, aviation and others have made them attractive destination for investment.  FDI limit in sectors like Defence was increased.

ICICI Pru’s net profit remains almost flat at Rs 288 crore in June quarter

 N S Kannan,MD & CEO, ICICI Prudential Life Insurance said, “The Covid-19 pandemic has had an impact on the way consumers perceive life insurance and protection products have therefore seen an increased demand. Even with the movement restrictions in the last quarter,the share of protection in our portfolio increased to 26 per cent of annualised premium equivalent (APE). This resulted in an expansion in the VNB margin from 21 per cent for Q1-FY2020 to 24.4 per cent  for Q1-FY2021. Customers trust us to help them achieve their longterm financial goals and despite volatile markets our assets under management grew by 3.6 per cent  to Rs 1.7 trillion for the quarter ended June 2020.”

Facebook’s WhatsApp to partner with more Indian banks in financial inclusion push

WhatsApp will also expand pilot projects with banking and other partners to cover financial services such as pensions and insurance.
