Delhi Anaj Mandi fire: 43 dead, several critically injured, probe ordered

India’s consumer confidence in Nov sees steepest fall in more than 5 yrs

The central bank’s survey was conducted in 13 big cities and 5,334 households. Consumers were surveyed about perceptions and expectations on the general economic situation, the jobs scenario, the overall price situation apart from income and spending.Worryingly enough, respondents felt that prices have increased in the past year and are likely to rise in the year ahead, implying inflationary pressures are likely to stay sticky in the near term.

DHFL bankruptcy: Irdai rules out troubles for two insurance arms; asks insurers to write off exposure

“Even if the parent company goes for liquidation, it will be sold and somebody else will take over. So, DHFL’s share in these insurance companies will be transferred to the new owners,” he said and assured that no policyholders will be affected during the process. However, Khuntia asked insurers to write off their exposures to the housing finance company in the similar manner as they followed in the case of the now bankrupt IL&FS.

RBI keeps rates on hold despite economy fears

The six-member monetary policy committee (MPC) unanimously voted to hold the key repo rate at 5.15% while the reverse repo rate was also held at 4.90%.The RBI reiterated that it would maintain an accommodative stance as long as it is necessary to revive economic growth which slowed to 4.5% in the September quarter from 7% a year ago, to stand at its lowest in more than six years.
