Hiring activity rises 11 pc in Apr-Jun; IT, financial services, BPO/ITeS drive demand: Survey

According to the Indeed India Hiring Tracker, that maps quarterly job market activity to June 2021, hiring increased by 11 per cent over the previous quarter, with standout growth in Information Technology (61 per cent), financial services (48 per cent), and BPO/ITeS (47 per cent).This survey was conducted by Valuvox on behalf of Indeed among 1,500 employees and 1,200 businesses across nine cities in the month of June 2021.

Coronavirus likely to lock India’s women out of job market for years

A report by the Centre for Sustainable Employment at Azim Premji University found that 47% of women workers who lost their job between March and December – before the second wave of the virus hit in April – were made permanently redundant. That compared with around 7% of male workers, many of whom were able to either return to their old jobs or take up independent work like selling vegetables.

Mastercard and American India Foundation (AIF) launch first portable hospital in Jalna

VijayRaghavan, Principal Scientific Adviser, Government of India, said, “Rapidly developing and implementing surge-capacity in our health-care system is an important ongoing effort all over the country. Government efforts are supplemented by partnership with industry and NGOs with an aim to refurbish existing hospital infrastructure to improve critical care. These include facilitating state governments’ systems in a manner uniquely required of them. The initiative by Mastercard and AIF is one such where a few hospitals are being launched and/or commence their functions this month. Keeping up the momentum, learning from these experiences, will be important to accomplish the goals of all such partnerships.”

During the medical treatment, Sheela, in her petition, a copy accessed by ANI, filed before the Supreme Court, claimed that she has already spent more than Rs 1 crore in the medical treatment of Manish. She, however, also made it clear that she is in the process of mobilising further resources for his treatment.

Sheela sought an order from the Supreme Court thereby directing the officials of the Union of India (UOI) and other appropriate authorities–PM Cares Fund, PM Relief Fund, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister’s Relief Fund, and others — to consider and release the requisite funds in terms of the estimated cost, as has been demanded by the hospital, where Manish is being treated for COVID-19.

Delta variant produces similar viral loads in vaccinated, unvaccinated: CDC

The study demonstrated that Delta infection resulted in similarly high SARS-CoV-2 viral loads in vaccinated and unvaccinated people, said CDC Director Rochelle Walensky.

“High viral loads suggest an increased risk of transmission and raised concern that, unlike with other variants, vaccinated people infected with Delta can transmit the virus,” she said.

Israel’s president gets third COVID-19 shot, urges boosters for over-60s

“Israel is a pioneer in going ahead with the third dose for older people of the age of 60 and above. The fight against the COVID pandemic is global. The only way we can defeat COVID is together,” Bennett said. Do I need to get tested for COVID-19 if I’m vaccinated?

The latest guidance from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says people who are fully vaccinated should get tested three to five days after potential exposure, even if they don’t have symptoms.That change comes two months after the agency eased its initial testing guidance. In May, the CDC said vaccinated people face very little risk of serious illness and don’t need to be tested in most cases, even if exposed to someone who was sick. The thinking was that vaccinated people also weren’t likely to spread it to others.

Germany to require proof of Covid immunity or negative test on arrival: Sources

Germany now requires a negative test or proof of immunity only from those arriving from so-called “risk areas”, “high-incidence areas” and “virus-variant areas”, which in Europe now include Britain, Spain and the Netherlands.

Rules are now also applied differently at airports and road crossings, and regional leaders are keen to make them more consistent.

England scraps quarantine for fully vaccinated EU, U.S. visitors

Top of the list is a reopening of the UK-U.S. travel corridor which is still affected by a ban on all non-U.S. citizens who have been in Britain. British Prime Minister Boris Johnson told LBC Radio earlier on Wednesday that he wanted U.S. citizens to come to England “freely” and was discussing making changes.

Travellers also still have to take an expensive COVID-19 test before departure and shortly after arrival in England. BA Chief Executive Sean Doyle said the company’s trials had proved it could check travellers for vaccination status quickly and safely.

New York city to offer 100 dollars for vaccination

The announcement comes just days after the mayor said all city workers would have to be vaccinated against COVID-19 by mid-September or face weekly testing. De Blasio also announced that more than 9.9 million doses of vaccine have been administered in the city so far. Sixty-six per cent of adults have been fully vaccinated and 71 per cent have received at least one dose, according to the New York City health department, The Hill reported.
