Sebi bans 85 entities from capital mkts for fraudulent trading 

The investigation was conducted to ascertain whether there was any violation of the provisions of the PFUTP (Prohibition of Fraudulent and Unfair Trade Practices ) Regulations by certain entities while trading.

In its probe, Sebi found that pursuant to allotment of shares under the scheme of amalgamation, Sunrise Asian and its then directors had devised an arrangement whereby 83 connected entities had manipulated the price of the scrip in four patches of trading during the investigation period, thereby violating PFUTP norms.

12-year-old dies of Nipah in Kerala; 2 health workers show symptoms says health min

​​​​​​​Two more people have been identified with symptoms of Nipah virus infection, Kerala health minister Veen George said here on Sunday.

The two are among the 20 high risk contacts of the deceased 12-year-old child, she said.
The Kozhikode Medical college hospital sources told PTI that they have since opened an exclusive Nipah ward to cater to any possible outbreak of the virus.

Atal Pension Yojna most popular social security scheme under NPS system

Out of 4.2 crore National Pension System (NPS) subscribers, over 66 per cent or 2.8 crore opted for the APY at the end of 2020-21, says the annual report of the National Pension Systems Trust (NPS Trust).The State Government Scheme ranks second with 11 per cent share, while the central autonomous bodies (CAB) continued to account for the least number of subscribers of NPS with a share of 1 per cent, followed by state autonomous bodies (SAB) with a share of 2 per cent.

“APY is the most subscribed plan among non-metro subscribers. This also reflects the demographic pattern in the country, where more unorganized population segments reside in the non metros, thus accessing the NPS self-initiated plan,” the report said.

One in every two families paid over Rs 750 for COVID antibody test in India: Survey

According to the survey, 29 per cent of the respondents said they paid Rs 1,000 or more during their COVID antibody test. Further, 21 per cent said they paid between Rs 750-1000 and 14 per cent said they paid between Rs 500-750.

While, 24 per cent said they paid Rs 250-500 and 7 per cent said they paid less than Rs 250. 5 per cent respondents did not say anything. “On an aggregate basis, 50 per cent of citizens who got a COVID antibody test done paid over Rs 750 for it,” said LocalCircles release.

Judicial reforms for strengthening contract enforcement next focus for govt: Sanyal

Sanyal said it takes time for disposal of legal matters which makes contract enforcement difficult, and called it the ”single biggest hurdle” for economic expansion.

Asked specifically if judicial reforms will be the key priority of the government, he said, ”To some extent yes…we will now move into the next phase where we will begin to do things related to administrative reforms and judicial reforms, yes.”

He added that the government will also be focusing on privatisation, adding that it is one thing to announce intentions and another do it. Despite the resistance, it will go forward with the asset monetisation plan, he noted.
