That model would echo efforts by the government and insurance industry to deal with terrorism risks after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.He cautioned, however, that affordability would become a major question. Insurers will need to set prices to appropriately account for the heightened risk, but that could mean policyholders might shy away from coverage because of the higher cost.
Health and motor insurance renewal date further extended till May 15
“With a view to mitigate hardship to policyholders whose health&motor (3rd party) insurance policies are due for renewal during lockdown, Govt. has issued a notification allowing policyholders to make payments on or before 15.05.2020 towards renewal of their policies,” said Finance Minister N Sitharaman .

Twenty-two deaths were reported since Wednesday evening, the ministry said in its updated data.Nine fatalities were reported from Maharashtra, five from Andhra Pradesh, three from Gujarat, two each from Delhi and Tamil Nadu and one from Karnataka, it added.Of the total 414 deaths, Maharashtra tops the tally with 187 fatalities, followed by Madhya Pradesh at 53, Gujarat at 33, Delhi at 32 and Telengana at 18,Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh have reported 14 fatalities each.

With drones and tests, India battles to keep virus out of Mumbai’s slums
Mumbai’s Dharavi, often considered Asia’s biggest slum with an estimated 1 million residents, has reported 71 cases and experts fear the number could climb quickly.
Authorities stress that part of Mumbai’s high rates stem from more aggressive testing. The city has conducted 2,374 tests per million, versus 448 per million in capital New Delhi, according to a Mumbai government report reviewed by Reuters on Thursday.
Around 82% of coronavirus patients in Mumbai are stable, with just 2% requiring critical care, the data shows.

“Bats are considered to be the natural reservoir for many viruses, of which some are potential human pathogens. In India, an association of Pteropus medius bats with the Nipah virus was reported in the past. It is suspected that the recently emerged severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) also has its association with bats,” the objective of the study titled ‘Detection of coronaviruses in Pteropus and Rousettus species of bats from different states of India’ stated.
“In the present scenario of changing demography and ecological manipulations, it is challenging to have checks on the encounters of bats with other animals and humans,” the study stated, highlighting that the need for active and continuous surveillance remains crucial for outbreak alerts for bat-associated viral agents with epidemic potential, which would be helpful in timely interventions.
Trump cuts WHO funding over coronavirus, global toll mounts
Trump, who has reacted angrily to criticism of his administration’s response to the worst epidemic in a century, has become increasingly hostile towards the WHO.
The Geneva-based organisation had promoted China’s “disinformation” about the virus that likely led to a wider outbreak than otherwise would have occurred, Trump said.
The United States is the biggest overall donor to the WHO, contributing more than $400 million in 2019, roughly 15% of its budget.
