Govt approves Rs 107 cr for fire-fighting facilities at Haldia Dock

The modern fire-fighting facility will enable Haldia Dock Complex in safe handling of the movement of petro-chemical products, it said.

The existing fire-fighting facility does not support the handling the LPG and other petroleum products as per the guideline of Oil Industry Safety Directorate (OISD) of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, it added.

The shipping ministry said it has prioritised safety and security of cargo operation on all major ports and the move is towards compliance of global standards for fire safety.

Network Hospitals have to provide cashless facility to policyholders:IRDAI 

,it is clarified that the policyholders are entitled to cashless facility at all such network providers (hospital) with whom the Insurance company/TPA has entered into an agreement in accordance to the norms of SLA.
In the event of denial of cashless facility at any such enlisted network providers (hospitals) the aggrieved policyholders may send a complaint to the concerned insurance company.

Asian waters account for most shipping losses,global numbers hit record low:AGCS

According to the report, the South China, Indochina, Indonesia and Philippines maritime region remains the top loss location with 12 vessels in 2019 and 228 vessels over the past decade – one in four of all losses. The Japan, Korea and North China region saw 2 vessels lost in 2019 and is the third largest loss location overall with 104 since 2010. High levels of trade, busy shipping lanes, older fleets, typhoon exposure, and safety issues on some domestic ferry routes are contributing factors. However, in 2019, losses declined for the second successive year, mirroring a global trend.

Glenmark cuts price of COVID-19 drug favipiravir version to $1 per tablet

Glenmark last month received Indian regulatory approval to make and sell anti-flu drug favipiravir, which is manufactured under the brand name Avigan by a unit of Japan’s Fujifilm Holdings Corp.

Glenmark had priced FabiFlu at 103 rupees per tablet earlier, making it one of the cheapest COVID-19 treatment available in the country.

“Glenmark’s price reduction aims to make FabiFlu further accessible for COVID-19 patients across the country,” the company said in a statement

Biocon secures approval to use drug on coronavirus patients

“The randomised control trial indicated that all the patients treated with Itolizumab responded positively and recovered,” said Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, the firm’s executive chairperson.

The control group which did not receive Itolizumab unfortunately suffered deaths, she said, adding that the “first-in-class” drug will save lives and help reduce the mortality rate in India.
