Covid-19 Pandemic:Confirmed cases cross 40,000,1,323 dead,record 2,644 new cases detected in last 24 hours

In a significant milestone in its fight against the novel Coronavirus,India has completed over 1 million Covid-19 RT-PCR tests (Reverse Transcription-Polymerase Chain Reaction).According to ICMR, a total of 1046450 samples have been tested as on 03 May 2020, 9 AM IST.RT-PCR is the only diagnostic test for Covid-19 approved by the World Health Organization.​​​​​​​India is current carrying out an average of 75,000 tests per day at 419 approved laboratories across the country.

Maharashtra to provide free & cashless health insurance cover to its people

Speaking to reporters after a Maharashtra Day event in Jalna on Friday, Tope said 85 per cent of the state’s population was covered under the Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Jan Arogya Yojana (MJPJAY) at present and the cover will be extended to the remining 15 per cent.A memorandum was signed to include government, semi-government employees and white ration card holders in the scheme in a bid to prevent private hospitals from overcharging patients, he said.

27 out of top 100 companies can’t sustain current wage bill: Deloitte study

A nationwide lockdown imposed from March 25 to contain the spread of COVID-19 has resulted in the shutting down of businesses and factories, suspension of flights and trains and restrictions on the movement of people and goods. This has led to a slump in consumption, denting revenues of many companies.

“The situation appears less comfortable after considering that other current liabilities also need to be serviced from the same cash and cash equivalents cover. Thus, even if shareholders were to take the most generous view of foregoing their share of value adds for the current year, wage bill cuts are imminent for even some of the largest of the companies in India,” said.
