Unlock 1.0: After 3-month selling streak, FPIs invest Rs 21,235 cr in June

Prior to this, foreign investors remained net sellers for three consecutive months. They pulled out a net Rs 7,366 crore in May, Rs 15,403 crore in April and a record Rs 1.1 trillion in March.
The Indian financial markets will continue to witness rotational trend with respect to foreign flows. One can expect bouts of sharp net inflows and outflows by FPIs in the Indian financial markets, depending on their changing opinion and global trends, Himanshu Srivastava, associate director-manager research at Morningstar India said.

Maha lockdown: Uddhav says curbs will continue after June 30

The unlock process, dubbed Mission Begin Again by the state government, is being gradually implemented to put the economy back on track, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray said in his address.

Thackeray said there will be some restrictions in the state after June 30 but more relaxations will be offered gradually.

Locusts reach national capital outskirts; south, west Delhi on high alert

In May, India battled a devastating desert locust outbreak. The crop-destroying swarms first attacked Rajasthan and then spread to Punjab, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh.

According to experts, broadly four species of locusts are found in India — desert locust, migratory locust, Bombay locust and tree locust. The desert locust is considered the most destructive.

It multiplies very rapidly and is capable of covering 150 kilometers in a day.

Thunderstorm, lightning kill 110 people in Bihar and UP 

The lightning strikes were more devastating in Bihar, where 83 people have lost their lives since Wednesday, according to the figures released on Thursday by the Disaster Management Department in Patna.

More than 20 people have been injured in these incidents and hospitalised, they said. 

Meanwhile, in the neighbouring Uttar Pradesh, at least 24 people died when they were struck by lightning on Thursday, while 12 were injured, officials said in Lucknow.
