Labour Ministry seeks feedback on draft rules under Code on Social Security

The draft rules provide for operationalization of provisions in the Code on Social Security, 2020 relating to Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO), Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC), gratuity, maternity benefit, social security and cess in respect of building and other construction workers, social security for unorganised workers, gig workers and platform workers.

The draft rules also provide for Aadhaar-based registration including self-registration by unorganised workers, gig workers and platform workers on the portal of the Central government, the statement said.

Will ask govt to make employers’ contribution tax-free in Budget:PFRDA

Centre to provide 300 ICU beds to Delhi hospitals to tackle rising Covid-19 cases: Amit Shah

While India’s daily increase in cases has been under the 50,000 mark for eight straight days, around half its record peak, the city state of Delhi has recorded over 7,000 cases a day over the last five days – a record level.

“Delhi has witnessed a huge surge in daily active cases which is likely to worsen over next few weeks,” Harsh Vardhan said in a tweet on Sunday.

Sensex, Nifty make modest gains in special Diwali day session

“Muhurat” means auspicious in Hindi, and many traders believe gains made during this session bring prosperity and wealth in the year ahead. Regular trading resumes on Tuesday.
BPCL investors were among the happiest lot, as the stock climbed 5.19 per cent to Rs 414.45, emerging as the biggest gainer among Nifty constituents. Indian Oil, Tata Motors, HDFC Life Insurance, Sun Pharma and Coal India NSE 0.95 % were other major gainers, rising 1-3 per cent.
On the other hand, Hindalco was the biggest loser in the pack, falling 1.21 per cent to Rs 208. Hero MotoCorp, JSW Steel, SBI, Bajaj Finance and Shree Cement were other top losers, down up to 1 per cent.

Volatility indicator, India VIX, came down further, signalling a drop in nervousness among traders. The index settled 2.8 per cent down at 19.15.
Broader market induces also logged solid gain, outperforming their headline peers. Nifty Smallcap Index added 0.67 per cent and Nifty Midcap 0.38 per cent. Nifty500, the broadest index on NSE, advanced 0.38 per cent.
