India’s economic growth held back due to demonetisation, GST: Raghuram Rajan

“The two successive shocks of demonetisation and the GST had a serious impact on growth in India. Growth has fallen off interestingly at a time when growth in the global economy has been peaking up,” he said delivering the second Bhattacharya Lectureship on the Future of India. A growth rate of 7 percent per year for 25 years is “very very strong” growth, but in some sense, this has become the new Hindu rate of growth, which earlier used to be 3.5 percent, Rajan said.

Delhi HC directs e-commerce site to ensure products for sale on portal are not counterfeits

“In the world of e-commerce, intellectual property (IP) owners face challenging times. This is because sellers of counterfeit or infringing products seek shelter behind the platform’s legitimacy.Moreover, if the sellers themselves are located on foreign shores and the trade mark owner cannot exercise any remedy against the seller who is selling counterfeits on the e-commerce platform, then the trade mark owner cannot be left remediless,” the court said.
