“The randomised control trial indicated that all the patients treated with Itolizumab responded positively and recovered,” said Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, the firm’s executive chairperson.

The control group which did not receive Itolizumab unfortunately suffered deaths, she said, adding that the “first-in-class” drug will save lives and help reduce the mortality rate in India.

HC asks Centre to treat as representation plea for disaster management agency in NCR

“In order to bring about uniformity in the COVID-response, it is imperative that the respondents (Centre and governments of Delhi, UP, Haryana and Rajasthan) designate the National Capital Region Planning Board (NCRPB) or any authority, consisting of executive members from all the concerned states and union territory, as the single nodal agency, to carry out disaster management tasks in the NCR region in a uniform manner,” the petition had said.

Indian economy’s medium-term outlook remains uncertain – RBI Governor

Policy responses by the central bank appear to have worked so far, but going forward the situation would need even more careful assessment, said Reserve Bank of India Governor Shaktikanta Das.Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Shaktikanta Das said on Saturday  describing the COVID-19 outbreak has “unambiguously the worst health and economic crisis in the last 100 years during peacetime”.
The COVID-19 outbreak has “dented the existing world order, global value chains, labour and capital movements across the globe, and, needless to say, the socioeconomic conditions of large sections of the world population”.

Life insurance industry sees double-digit degrowth in new premiums and policies in Apr-June Qtr

The life insurance behemoth the LIC, though has improved its market share to 74 per cent in terms new premium income, has seen its new premium  income falling by 18.45 per cent y-o-y to Rs 36,530.02 in June  quarter of 202-21.Its number of new policies sold during the June quarter have also fallen by 44 per cent y-o-y to 19,15,641
