To protect privacy, no passenger information will be shared in the database and the incidents that resulted in a driver’s dismissal will be listed in six broad categories: attempted non-consensual sexual penetration; non-consensual touching of a sexual body part; non-consensual kissing of a sexual body part; non-consensual kissing of a non-sexual body part; non-consensual sexual penetration; and fatal physical assaults.

US, India, Australia, Japan agree to send 1 bln vaccines across Asia by end-2022

Govt developing dedicated portal for facilitation of domestic investors

“In order to further strengthen efforts to promote domestic investments, the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) is in the process of finalising a dedicated digital portal – Atmanirbhar Niveshak Mitra – for hand holding, information dissemination, and facilitation of domestic investors,” it said.

The special features of the portal will be daily updates on policies and new initiatives by central and state governments; information about approvals, licences, clearances and different schemes and incentives; information on manufacturing clusters and land availability; and applicable taxation system.

German ‘insurtech’ Wefox plans risk-prevention product

Using data from mobile phones or digital smart homes will make it possible to warn of looming danger, for example, to drivers from poor road conditions, or from leaving a window open at home when a storm is looming.

The risk prevention product will not crunch personal data to price Wefox’s products – a common complaint among younger drivers who often have to agree to digital surveillance to get an affordable insurance deal.
