IRDAI asks insurers to promote Govt’s Digilocker for e-storing their policy documents

Digilocker is an initiative under the Digital India program by the Government of India where citizens can get authentic documents/ certificate in digital format from original issuers of these certificates.
The insurers should inform their retail policyholders about Digilocker and how to use it. Insurers are also advised to enable the process by which the policyholders can place their policies in the digilocker., said the IRDAI.

The European Commission, which kicked off its probe in December because of concerns the deal to create the world’s largest insurance broker may hurt competition in major markets, said it stopped the clock on Monday.

“This procedure in merger investigations is activated if the parties fail to provide, in a timely fashion, an important piece of information that the Commission has requested from them,” a spokeswoman for the EU competition enforcer said.

Hacker changed water chemical levels to poison entire US city

“The hacker changed the sodium hydroxide from about 100 parts per million to 11,100 parts per million. This is obviously a significant and potentially dangerous increase,” Bob Gualtieri, Sheriff of Oldsmar city in Florida state in the US, was quoted as saying in local media reports on Monday.

The intrusion took place on February 5 when the hacker remotely accessed a computer system that was set up to allow for the remote control of water treatment operations.

According to a report in Tampa Bay Times, local and federal authorities including the FBI were investigating the attempt to poison the city of Oldsmar.

More than 31 million people in the United States have received at least one dose, and 36 similar cases had been reported to the government’s Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System, VAERS, by the end of January. The cases involved either the Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna vaccine, the only two authorized so far for emergency use in the United States.

The Finance Minister who presented her third Budget on February 1 noted that the strategic sectors will not remain totally under the government’s domain and private players too will be allowed in the sectors.

Govt allocates ₹16000 crore for Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana for 2021-22

The number of farmers’ crop insurance claims that were rejected by insurance companies under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) multiplied 9 times in just two years.

According to data provided by Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar in response to a question in the Rajya Sabha on Friday, in 2017-18, the number of rejected claims was 92,869.

In the next year, 2018-19, the figure more than doubled to 204742. By 2019-20, it was 928870 , a whopping 900 percent increase,” the reply said.
