Indian authorities assess damages after earthquake in Tajikistan

“Preliminary reports suggest there has been no destruction or building collapse but we will examine whether cracks have developed in dams, bridges or power plants,” said S.K. Singh, an official at the National Disaster Management Authority in New Delhi.

The Tajikistan Emergency Situations Ministry said the epicentre was 420 km (260 miles) east of the Tajik capital Dushanbe near the border with China.
The U.S Geological Survey put the quake’s magnitude at 5.9 and centred 35 km (55 miles) west of Murghob in Tajikistan, central Asia.

The seismic service of the country’s Academy of Sciences told Russia’s RIA Novosti that the quake’s intensity was measured at 6.1. The news agency said there were no casualties or damage, citing the Committee on Emergency Situations.

The minister said while homoeopathy treatment is not to be given in standalone mode for Covid-19 treatment, the ministry through an advisory in March last year and the ‘Guidelines for AYUSH practitioners for Covid-19’ allowed AYUSH interventions, including homoeopathy, as add on to standard care.

On August 15, 2020, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the NDHM, following which NDHM pilot mode was launched in the Union Territories of Chandigarh, Ladakh, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu, Puducherry, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Lakshadweep. The budget allocated for the NDHM for 2020-21 is Rs 30 crore, Choubey said in a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha.

Fines, jail term for breach of UK’s new Covid-19 travel rules

In a statement to the House of Commons, Health Secretary Matt Hancock unveiled the new rules to come into force from next Monday, which also include two additional compulsory PCR tests on arrival during a 10-day hotel quarantine as part of a 1,750 pounds pre-booked package covering accommodation, transport and testing.

“From Monday, all international arrivals will be required by law to take further PCR tests on day two and day eight of that quarantine,” said Hancock.

India achieves 60 lakh Covid-19 vaccinations in 24 days, fastest in world: Health ministry

Twenty-three deaths have been recorded till date which comprise 0.0004 per cent of the total vaccinations, the ministry said. Of these, nine people died in hospital while 14 deaths were recorded outside the hospital.

In 24 hours, a 29-year-old woman, a resident of Srikakulam in Andhra Pradesh, has died.

“None of these deaths have been causally linked with Covid-19 vaccination. No case of serious/severe AEFI/Death is attributable to vaccination, till date,” the ministry stated.

Twitter says will not fully comply with India govt orders to take down some accounts

The government has played hardball, sending Twitter a notice of non-compliance last week that threatens its executives with jail terms of up to seven years and the company with fines if it does not block the content. Twitter said it had suspended more than 500 accounts that were engaging in clear examples of platform manipulation and spam, and had also taken actions on hundreds of others that breached its rules relating to the inciting of violence and abuse.

”Revenues of major Indian scheduled carriers fell from Rs. 46,711 crore during April-September 2019 to about Rs. 11,810 crore during April-September 2020. Their full time and contractual employment which was 74,887 as on 31 March 2020 fell to 67,906 as on 30 September 2020,” Puri told Rajya Sabha in a written reply to a question.
