India seeks health worker database for possible COVID-19 vaccination
“Vaccine would be supplied by the government of India to all states for free,” Pradipta Mohapatra, the top health bureaucrat of Odisha state who attended a video conference with federal health officials, told Reuters.
“First to be vaccinated are the health workers both in government and private sector. The policy is uniform for the whole country.”
Mohapatra said states would have to provide details of such workers to the federal government by next Friday.

Himalayan arc poised for a sequence of great earthquakes, says study
North India has witnessed many earthquakes of small magnitude in the past four months, raising popular speculation about a big one in the region.
However, study author Steven G. Wesnousky said, scientists have yet to find a systematic relationship between the occurrence of small earthquakes and the timing of greater earthquakes in the future.
Major cities along and close to the Himalayan frontal thrust include Chandigarh and Dehradun in India; and Kathmandu, Nepal.
Strong and damaging shaking in such great quakes could extend southward as far as India’s capital, Delhi, one of the largest cities in the world with a population of more than 11 million, Wesnousky added.
