Uber to give UK drivers minimum wage, pension, holiday pay

Uber said it’s extending the benefits immediately to its more than 70,000 drivers in the U.K. Drivers will earn at least the minimum wage, which currently stands at 8.72 pounds ($12.12), after accepting a trip request and expenses, and will still be able to earn more.

Drivers will also get holiday pay equal to about 12% of their earnings, paid every two weeks. And they’ll be enrolled in a pension plan that both they and the company will pay into.

Women want health covers to be more `women-centric’: Survey

The report showed that 98% of the women believe that there should be more women centric health add-ons in the health insurance such as Menstruation/hormonal issues, PCOD treatment, Mental Illness related to Postpartum Syndrome and Osteoporosis Treatment. Women’s health has been majorly affected given their ever-evolving roles both at work as well as at home which make the need for health insurance vital. The report finds that the shift to remote work has allowed employers to hire talent beyond where they physically operate. Some firms have used this opportunity to double down on diversity and inclusion. The Covid-19 pandemic has changed employment forecasts for different sectors. Although utility companies experienced the smallest decline in employment during Covid-19, it is projected to have the largest decline of any sector over the next decade.

Fidelity offers 5-day of family care leave

The policy is part of its policy of being a family-friendly company and comes eight months after it offered up to 26 weeks of paternity leaves as maternity leaves. The family care leave policy is based on multiple pulse surveys conducted over the past several months among the employees, which found that many of them needed support to balance their work and family care responsibilities, Upasna Nischal, HR head at Fidelity International India said.
