The minister said while homoeopathy treatment is not to be given in standalone mode for Covid-19 treatment, the ministry through an advisory in March last year and the ‘Guidelines for AYUSH practitioners for Covid-19’ allowed AYUSH interventions, including homoeopathy, as add on to standard care.

Fines, jail term for breach of UK’s new Covid-19 travel rules

In a statement to the House of Commons, Health Secretary Matt Hancock unveiled the new rules to come into force from next Monday, which also include two additional compulsory PCR tests on arrival during a 10-day hotel quarantine as part of a 1,750 pounds pre-booked package covering accommodation, transport and testing.

“From Monday, all international arrivals will be required by law to take further PCR tests on day two and day eight of that quarantine,” said Hancock.

India achieves 60 lakh Covid-19 vaccinations in 24 days, fastest in world: Health ministry

Twenty-three deaths have been recorded till date which comprise 0.0004 per cent of the total vaccinations, the ministry said. Of these, nine people died in hospital while 14 deaths were recorded outside the hospital.

In 24 hours, a 29-year-old woman, a resident of Srikakulam in Andhra Pradesh, has died.

“None of these deaths have been causally linked with Covid-19 vaccination. No case of serious/severe AEFI/Death is attributable to vaccination, till date,” the ministry stated.

Their full time and contractual employment which was 74,887 as on 31 March 2020 fell to 67,906 as on 30 September 2020,” Puri told Rajya Sabha in a written reply to a question.

Overall COVID-19 seropositivity among healthcare workers over 25 per cent: minister

The Indian Council of Medical Research is undertaking periodic sero-surveillance to monitor the trend of COVID-19 infection. As per the third seroprevalence study (December 2020 to January 2021) results the overall COVID-19 seropositivity among healthcare workers is assessed to be 25.7 per cent,” he said in a written reply. Seroprevalence is highest among doctors and nurses (26.6 per cent), followed by para-medical staff (25.4 per cent), field staff (25.3 per cent) and administrative staff (24.9 per cent), Choubey said in a written reply.

WHO says coronavirus unlikely to have leaked from China lab

The WHO team’s mission is intended to be an initial step delving into the origins of the virus, which is believed to have originated in bats before being passed to humans through another species of wild animal, such as a pangolin or bamboo rat, which is considered an exotic delicacy by some in China.

Transmission through the trade in frozen products was also a possibility, WHO food safety and animal diseases expert Peter Ben Embarek said.

A few Covid vaccine recipients developed a rare blood disorder

It is not known whether this blood disorder is related to the Covid vaccines.

More than 31 million people in the United States have received at least one dose, and 36 similar cases had been reported to the government’s Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System, VAERS, by the end of January. The cases involved either the Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna vaccine, the only two authorized so far for emergency use in the United States.
