Telangana Police arrests 11 for running fake vehicle insurance racket in Cyberabad

“On the complaint of Reliance General Insurance’s area manager, regarding the fake vehicle insurance policies, the special operation team, Shamshabad zone, busted fake vehicle insurance gang and apprehended 11 persons, who were involved in the preparation of fake vehicle insurance policies on the name of different insurance companies and selling them to people in need for a huge amount,” the police said.

Govt confirms bird flu cases in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Kerala

In an official statement, the ministry said in Rajasthan, bird flu is reported in crows in Baran, Kota and Jhalawar district, while Madhya Pradesh also reported the disease in crows in Mandsaur, Indore and Malwa districts. “In Himachal Pradesh, the bird flu is reported in migratory birds in Kangra, while in Kerala it is reported in poultry-duck in Kottayam and Allapuzha districts,” it said.

WHO recommends two doses of Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine within 21-28 days

“We deliberated and came out with the following recommendation: two doses of this (Pfizer) vaccine within 21-28 days,” Alejandro Cravioto, chairman of WHO’s Strategic Advisory Group of Experts on Immunization (SAGE), told an online news briefing.

More than 85 million people have been reported to be infected by the novel coronavirus globally and around 1.85 million have died, according to a Reuters tally.

Global economy expected to expand by 4% in 2021: World Bank

“While the global economy appears to have entered a subdued recovery, policy makers face formidable challenges – in public health, debt management, budget policies, central banking and structural reforms – as they try to ensure that this still fragile global recovery gains traction and sets a foundation for robust growth,” said World Bank President David Malpass .

“To overcome the impacts of the pandemic and counter the investment headwind, there needs to be a major push to improve business environments, increase labour and product market flexibility, and strengthen transparency and governance,” he said.

Insurer Centene to buy Magellan in $2.2 billion mental health push

The move by Centene to expand mental health support comes as more than two out of five Americans are struggling with mental or behavioral health issues associated with the pandemic, the company said.
“I was thinking about it long before the pandemic, the pandemic just emphasized it,” said Centene Chairman, President and Chief Executive Michael Neidorff.
Centene’s patients, after being diagnosed with a serious illness, such as cancer, would benefit from having increased access to mental health care, Neidorff added.

IRDAI unveils mandatory standard detariffed products for dwellings, micro and small enterprises

The new products can be sold by the general insurers from 1st April, 2021
IRDAI has now issued guidelines whereby the Standard Fire and Special Perils (SFSP) Policy provided for in the AIFT 2001 will be replaced by the standard products that will  be mandatorily offered by all general insurers carrying on Fire and allied perils insurance business with effect from 1st April, 2021.
