Curtailed mobility of people due to the COVID-19 pandemic and related restrictions will shrink domestic air passenger traffic by 40-45 percent and international traffic by 60-65 percent, respectively, this fiscal, the report said.

With the COVID-19 pandemic still raging in much of the world, a revival to pre-pandemic levels appears unlikely even next fiscal, it said.

This is a serious jolt to the Indian domestic air travel industry that had logged double-digit growth in seven of the past ten fiscals before its fortunes took a turn for the worse with the bankruptcy and grounding of a couple of major carriers, the report added.

Google backs Reliance’s Jio Platforms with $4.5 billion India investmen

The deal with Google will bolster Reliance’s tech ambitions, such as building smart homes, using solutions similar to Amazon.com Inc’s Alexa voice assistant, connected cars and security systems.

Jio and Google will also partner to built a low-cost “4G or even 5G smartphone” for India, Ambani said, in a move that is likely to get tens of millions of Indians to use mobile internet for the first time.

Human clinical trials for Covid-19 vaccine initiated in India:ICMR

The Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) has permitted two vaccines — one developed by Bharat Biotech International Limited in collaboration with the Indian Council of Medical Research and another one by ZydasCadila Healthcare Ltd to go in for the first and second phase of human clinical trials.

There are two Indian vaccine candidates that have undergone successful toxicity studies in rats, mice and rabbits and these data was submitted to the DCGI, following which both got clearance to start an early phase human trials earlier this month, Bhargava said at a press briefing.

Govt approves Rs 107 cr for fire-fighting facilities at Haldia Dock

The modern fire-fighting facility will enable Haldia Dock Complex in safe handling of the movement of petro-chemical products, it said.

The existing fire-fighting facility does not support the handling the LPG and other petroleum products as per the guideline of Oil Industry Safety Directorate (OISD) of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, it added.

The shipping ministry said it has prioritised safety and security of cargo operation on all major ports and the move is towards compliance of global standards for fire safety.

Network Hospitals have to provide cashless facility to policyholders:IRDAI 

,it is clarified that the policyholders are entitled to cashless facility at all such network providers (hospital) with whom the Insurance company/TPA has entered into an agreement in accordance to the norms of SLA.
In the event of denial of cashless facility at any such enlisted network providers (hospitals) the aggrieved policyholders may send a complaint to the concerned insurance company.

India’s COVID-19 tally crosses 9 lakh with 28,498 fresh cases; death toll climbs to 23,727

The march of coronavirus infection in the country has picked up pace with the number of cases increasing by more than 26,000 for the fifth consecutive day. It took 110 days for the COVID-19 cases in the country to reach one lakh and just 56 days more to go past the nine-lakh mark.
Around 63.02 per cent of patients have recovered so far.
