Centre to provide free COVID vaccines to states for all above 18; Service charge for pvt hospitals capped at Rs 150/dose: PM

The change in the government’s vaccine strategy comes days after the Supreme Court asked the Centre to place on record all relevant documents and file notings reflecting its thinking culminating in the COVID-19 vaccination policy, and states questioning the central government over the alleged shortage of vaccines.
While India will have 53.6 crore doses between January and July, the availability of vaccines will increase to 133.6 crore doses between August and December with more firms supplying jabs and ramping up of production from the existing companies..

In another major announcement, the prime minister said a decision has been taken to extend Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojna till Deepawali.

This means that till November, 80 crore people will continue to get a decided amount of free foodgrain every month.

Second COVID-19 wave not to impact India’s agri sector in any way: Niti Aayog

”COVID-19 cases started spreading in the rural areas in May, with the beginning of May, and agriculture activity in May is bare minimal particularly land-based activities,” he added. ”…it (May) is a peak summer month and no crop is sown, no crop is harvested except little bit vegetables and some off-season crops,” Niti Aayog Member (Agriculture) Ramesh Chand explained.

India slips two spots to rank 117 on 17 Sustainable Development Goals

The State of India’s Environment Report 2021 revealed that India’s rank was 115 last year and dropped by two places primarily because major challenges like ending hunger and achieving food security (SDG 2), achieving gender equality (SDG 5) and building resilient infrastructure, promoting inclusive and sustainable industrialisation and fostering innovation (SDG 9) remain in the country.
The 17 SDGs adopted by UN member states are SDG1- no poverty, SDG 2-zero hunger, SDG3-good health and well-being, SDG4- quality education, SDG 5- gender equality, SDG 6- clean water and sanitation, SDG 7- affordable and clean energy, SDG 8 decent work and economic growth, SDG 9- industry, innovation and infrastructure.

Coal India alive and sensitive to need of environmental protection: Chairman
