Unhealthy diet, lack of physical activities lead to drastic rise in obesity among adults and kids:Survey

According to the survey data, 16 states and Union Territories registered a rise in obesity among women while 19 states and UTs recorded an increase in obesity among men.

Kerala and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands recorded the highest percentage of obesity among women at 38 per cent. Also, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Lakshadweep recorded the highest percentage of obesity among women at over 40 per cent.
Sheila Vir, a public health nutrition expert and founder director of Public Health Nutrition and Development Centre, said there is also lack of awareness on what are good food habits.
“We have a double burden of undernutrition, malnutrition and overnutrition occurring together. So, I think what to feed a child is what we are going wrong in,” Vir said.

COVID-19 caseload in India rises to 98.57 lakh with 30,254 new cases

The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 93,57,464 pushing the national recovery rate to 94.93 per cent, while the COVID-19 case fatality rate stands at 1.45 per cent.

The COVID-19 active caseload remained below 4 lakh for the seventh consecutive day. There are 3,56,546 active coronavirus infections in the country which comprises 3.62 per cent of the total caseload, the data stated.

Doctor On Call aims for 10 lakh subscribers by 2021-end

Doctor On Call rolled out the Swasthya Sewa initiative in July this year which offers doctor consultation to patients over a call for all kinds of ailments. The subscribers need to pay Rs 500 for a family as annual subscription fee to avail the company’s services. The company follows two models to cater to its subscribers. For complex ailments it has tie-ups with hospitals and specialist doctors and in order to cater to regular health issues of the subscribers, the company has around 15 doctors on its rolls.
